What functionality does GW-Unify offer?
GW-Unify converts voice mail into e-mail that is routed to the appropriate GroupWise account. Voice messages become correspondence that can be retrieved from a single interface accessible through the Web, PDA, and PC, in addition to a Cisco IP desktop phone or PC soft phone application. The message status (unread vs. read or deleted) is synchronized. Now messages are handled once. Using the functionality of GroupWise, voice messages can then be indexed, stored, organized, archived, and combined with other electronic attachments including faxes and forwarded to others via e-mail.

What version of Novell GroupWise is required?
Novell GroupWise 6.5 or higher.

What version of Cisco Unity is required?
Cisco Unity 3.2 or higher.

What are the hardware requirements?
GW-Unify does not require any additional server resources beyond the standard requirements for the Cisco Unity Exchange Server.

How can GW-Unify be tested in my environment?
GW-Unify can be tested using either Voicemail Only or the Unified Messaging versions of Unity. You can request a free limited time trial version of GW-Unify via the online request form at www.gwunify.com. How easy is the installation process? Most installations can be completed in less than one hour using the automated installation tool provided as part of the installation package.

What administrative features are available in GW-Unify?
GW-Unify includes an administrative tool to add and delete users. What is the performance impact of GW-Unify on the servers? GW-Unify is a lightweight, small foot print application that adds minimal load to the Exchange and GroupWise servers.

Does GroupWise replace the Unity message store?
No. Unity continues to use Exchange to store voicemail messages. GW-Unify creates copies of voicemail messages in GroupWise. If you delete a message you intended to store, you can retrieve it from the GroupWise deleted items folder.

Does GW-Unify interface with Call Manager?
No. The Connector only interfaces with Unity, further protecting the integrity of your phone system.

Does GW-Unify require Cisco's Call Manager?
No. It integrates with any phone system that utilizes Cisco's Unity for voicemail.

Has this product been verified in a lab by Cisco?
Yes, GW-Unify has been tested as a Cisco Compatible product. In December of 2004, ALI sent GW Unify to Cisco's own testing labs in Raleigh, NC where it was tested using the same protocols as Cisco uses for their own products. This involved running up to 7500 users with a transaction a second over a 72 hour period. Upon successful completion of that test where GW Unify not only met but exceeded Cisco's performance requirements, it became an officially designated Cisco Compatible Product and is now listed in their third party directory on their website. Please click here to see the testing verification at Cisco.
